About the Role

Please note that this is a 12-month Max term opportunity.

We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled Senior Financial Analyst – Asset Reporting to join the Santos team. Based at our Global Headquarters in Adelaide and reporting to the Finance Manager – Asset Reporting, this key position will be responsible for a broad range of accounting and reporting deliverables, including financial accounting, budgeting, forecasting and providing financial analysis for Santos’ position for the relevant operating Division.

The role also supports key Group year end and half year processes including impairment and restoration assessment and other ad hoc work to support the Asset Reporting team.

The senior financial analyst will co-ordinate delivery of key business processes between Division Finance (SES & Upstream) / Asset Reporting / Group Finance to ensure all deliverables are met in a timely basis.

Key responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Management Reporting
    • Working with key stakeholders, produce and review monthly Asset Performance Reports to provide key stakeholders with analysis, insight and commentary in relation to business performance, including performance against targets and trends, key business drivers and performance metrics.
    • Perform month-end / half-year / year-end accounting by working with Financial Services to review models, prepare journals for posting, review of results and completion of appropriate integrity checks prior to ledger close.
    • Support Regional Business Units as required with NCBE / Net Contribution analysis.
  • ASX
    • Provide asset ASX reporting information to Investor Relations.
  • Annual and Half Year Group reporting requirements
    • Assist with preparation of annual and half year subsidiary Financial Statements.
    • Prepare restoration provision models, analysis and journals in line with Group timelines.
    • Provide responses to audit queries in relation to areas supported.
    • Year-end and half-year DD&A updates.
    • Analysis and preparation of the asset’s Income Statement and Balance Sheet.
    • Support impairment reviews as required through trigger testing, working capital adjustments and subsidiary company impairment assessment for audited companies.
  • Forecasting, Budgeting and Planning
    • Assist with preparation of forecasts and budgets.
    • Assist with forecast analysis and advice for stakeholders including Regional Business unit finance teams and Group reporting.
  • Other
    • Provide assistance to Regional Business units and Financial Services with accounting and reporting matters.
    • Perform ad-hoc work in relation to projects that may arise from time to time.

About You

It is expected that applicants will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, as well Membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, or CPA Australia, or equivalent. In addition, you will also be able to demonstrate the following:

  • SAP Finance system knowledge
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated skills at an advanced level with Microsoft Excel
  • Demonstrated experience building and managing internal relationships and collaboration with others to meet common goals and objectives
  • Excellent communication skills, with experience working cross functionally and managing different stakeholder needs
