Server Administrator Lead

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Server Administrator Lead to oversee our team's Tableau servers on various on-prem and cloud platforms.

This is a remote opportunity, and the ideal candidate will have expertise in managing multiple server environments, including setup, configuration, and upgrades.

  • Set up and configure Tableau servers on multiple platforms (AWS preferred)
  • Experience with server parameter changes and optimizing performance
  • Proficiency in connecting Tableau to different data sources and extracting data from these sources
  • Manage user permissions, security, and access within Tableau environments
  • Troubleshoot Tableau performance issues and optimize dashboards
Requirements:
  • 10+ years of IT experience
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience managing Tableau Servers
  • Strong understanding of Tableau architecture, including workbooks, data sources, extract refresh schedules, and server maintenance
  • Knowledge of Tableau Server features, including scheduling, content management, and server configuration
  • Experience with SQL and relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL) to troubleshoot data-related issues
  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or batch scripting for automating administrative tasks
  • Understanding of data governance concepts and experience implementing data security measures in Tableau
  • Knowledge of cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS) is a plus but not required
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to explain and understand problems effectively
  • Strong stakeholder communication skills
  • Time zone: Pacific Time Zone preferred, but flexibility is possible
