**OVERVIEW**
As part of the OpenText America's Employee Relations team, the Lead Employee Relations Advisor will be a key member of the newly developed Employee Relations Centre of Excellence. Reporting to the Director of Employee Relations, the Lead Employee Relations Advisor will provide coaching, consulting, expertise and mentorship to Leaders, HR staff, and employees on Employee Relations matters such as performance management, offboarding, policy management, grievance/investigations management, leave management, HR Legal matters, compliance and accommodation, in support of the Employee Relations centralized team model. They will also take lead in the development of training, tools, templates, processes and reference materials, or other projects in support of the ER Centre of Excellence function.
**What you will do**:
- Consult with Leaders on performance cases, assisting them with delivering feedback in an objective manner that is intended to motivate employees to improve, while also providing solid documentation for performance cases
- Mediate and investigate issues between employees to minimize workplace conflict, handling complex and emotionally charged issues with composure, addressing situations objectively and without bias, and assisting with the implementation of corrective actions and/or disciplinary procedures
- Demonstrated experience with policy management including drafting new policies and/or making improvements and edit to existing policies to respond to changes in the work environment or legal landscape
- Lead the America's compliance-based responsibilities in alignment with the OpenText global governance framework
- Support for organizational merger and acquisition activities as needed.
**Skills and Knowledge**:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent 8+ years HR experience with a particular focus, emphasis, and strength in Employee Relations
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to utilize exceptional active listening skills to determine issues and formulate and ask appropriate follow up questions
- Effective at managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines, prioritizing conflicting demands, organizing time, collaborating with lead resources to deliver consistent results, bringing initiatives to successful completion
- Ability and desire to effectively mentor, develop and coach partners and team members
- Highly self-motivated and able to work autonomously while instinctively keeping all relevant parties properly informed
- Strong Business Acumen with a high degree of business ethics and transparency with experience working as part of a large global organization
- SHRM-SCP or similar certification would be an asset
- Fluency in Portuguese and/or Spanish and French strongly desired
