Philadelphia Gear, part of the Timken Power Systems group in Santa Fe Springs, CA, has a current opening for a Quality Assurance Supervisor . The position supervises and leads a team of qualified inspectors and is responsible for all aspects of incoming purchased material inspection and validation, document control, calibration, internal/external audit assistance, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), and other quality processes.

The position reports to the Quality Manager and is also responsible for ensuring quality inspection follow-through.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify opportunities and gaps in existing quality standards, practices, and tools.
  • Manage direct reports, including 3 NDT inspectors and 3 dimensional inspectors, ensuring technical requirements and scheduling are met.
  • Review all quality documents from the manufacturing process per project/contract.
  • Oversee receiving, in-process, and final inspection processes.
  • Provide final reports as required per contract.
  • Manage scheduling of work and material flow within areas of responsibility.
  • Work directly with customers on quality aspects of projects.
  • Assist with government and customer onsite inspections when required.
  • Collaborate with the quality and engineering teams to manage the calibration system.
  • Monitor supplier performance metrics and report these quarterly, including flow-down to suppliers.
  • Establish training programs and mentor employees in technical aspects of quality inspection.
  • Ensure safety device use, supervise plant housekeeping, and monitor for hazardous conditions and unsafe practices.
  • Implement training, procedures, and controls to develop and follow safety practices, reducing hazards and non-compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations.
  • Light travel may be required.
Required Skills and Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent with at least 7+ years of experience in inspection and quality systems, or a bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, or a related field with at least 3+ years of inspection and quality experience.
  • Broad technical understanding of industrial manufacturing, with a preference for gear experience.
  • Knowledge of materials, processes, and inspection methods.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 Quality certification.
  • Proficiency with precision inspection tools and measurement.
  • Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings.
  • Experience with Non-Destructive Testing.

Pay Range: $80K - $99K annually.
