Overview

Backend Software Engineer (Node, Python, Ruby on Rails or Go)

About the Role: As a Software Engineer at BWZ you are responsible for the whole development process, starting with discovering, planning and developing, ending with testing and deploying. You will work in an environment that offers freedom with responsibility, and encourages simplicity with risk taking.

You will be working in BWZ's Tech Team, highly involved in the development of our back-end systems and integrations (using Node.js, Python, AWS, etc), but also participating in the development and architecture of our multi-site Web Platform (built in WordPress), our Ad Tech Platform (built in Ruby on Rails), among many other systems and products. You can work remotely or in a flexible regime, if you are in Curitiba, Brazil. Keep in mind that our teams work in the PST time zone, and your hours should be at least partially compatible with it.

Responsibilities

• Develop internal systems used by dozens of employees, as well as customer facing systems used by thousands of clients.
• Collaborate with the Technology Director and BWZ Labs Team to support the Web Platform.
• Research and learn new technologies and solutions, proposing implementations to fit product needs to improve performance and scale.

Required Experience

• Meaningful experience building web applications using languages like PHP, Python, Ruby, GoLang, or similar.
• Track record of contributing to end-to-end system development (UI, server-side logic, infrastructure).
• Experience with system design of web applications.
• Experience with JavaScript technologies such as React, Node.js, Next.js, or similar.
• Solid understanding of databases and cloud infrastructure.

Nice to Haves

• Experience with AWS-based architecture.
• Experience with Cloudflare platform.
• Experience working with CMS (WordPress or similar).
• Experience using AI IDEs and building LLM-based applications/workflows.
• Experience with MVC frameworks and API development.
• Experience writing tests and building deployment pipelines.
