The Amazon Transportation Services (ATS) Finance team is looking for an experienced professional with a record of achieving results. The ATS team covers a portfolio of businesses that support the Linehaul portion of Amazon’s delivery service, which delivers packages to households/businesses across the planet. The ATS portfolio includes a diverse core of operations including airplanes, trucks and sortation buildings, as well technology solutions, sustainability initiatives and more.
The ATS Finance team seeks a Financial Analyst to own key financial reporting and alignment, develop key processes around the organization's goals, and perform financial analyses of major business events. You will become a valued business partner by focusing on core finance functions, identifying and publishing key metrics and working on special projects to achieve optimal performance.
Key Responsibilities- Use solid financial knowledge and business acumen to build financial models, interpret data, draw conclusions, and make recommendations that deliver results, drive improvements, and influence leaders throughout Amazon;
- Deliver weekly/monthly financial close using financial systems and advanced MS Excel functions to work with large data sets. Outputs plans, forecasts, budgets, and consolidations;
- Create effective business partnerships, manage competing priorities, and provide guidance based on data analysis during unexpected events;
- Communicate data (both written and verbal) in a clear, concise, and unambiguous manner, adjusting style for various audiences to articulate complex finance issues clearly;
- Collect and analyze quantitative data to develop relevant reports that drive cost reductions;
- Identify opportunities to resolve defects proactively. Improve, scale, or simplify finance tools across teams and organizations;
- Contribute to work-life harmony by being a positive, collaborative, and effective influencer to new team members as an indicator of operations excellence.
Success in this role requires you to partner with and influence business owners, support thoughtful decision-making, and adapt to a rapidly-evolving environment. You will collaborate with all types of stakeholders, from other finance analysts, to program/project managers, to executives, across multiple business units within Amazon. A typical day in this role provides an opportunity to innovate by building creative solutions with large-scale data mining tools, identifying the high-priority work and projects that maximize results for key stakeholders, and solving complex problems that affect company-wide strategic decisions.
Additional Qualifications- Experience identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan;
- Experience solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business;
- MBA or CPA;
- Knowledge of SQL/ETL;
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards);
- Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results.
