Brasil Rochester Institute of Technology - Staff Tempo inteiro
Job Summary

RIT's strategic goals related to academic success, retention, and the timely graduation of undergraduate students are a high priority for the university. This position is instrumental in coordinating, implementing, and evaluating the interventions for and outreach to students enabled through the predictive analytics initiative. The Associate Director serves as the primary point of contact for workflow, troubleshooting, and process improvements associated with outreach and interventions informed by predictive modeling. Additionally, it serves as the central point of contact for interventions related to some of our most at-risk student populations.

Responsibilities

The Associate Director will work collaboratively within the University Advising Office team, and will partner with the colleges as well as the Registrar, Institutional Research and Policy Studies, Access, Engagement & Success, and Student Affairs to drive coordination of interventions for student success. The Associate Director will use student success data to inform interventions, with a specific focus on student sub-populations identified through RIT's predictive analytics data, including first year students. The work will include documenting the measurable results of those improvement efforts as well as communicating with internal and external stakeholders. This position will help colleges with processes to identify, implement, and/or refer students to the appropriate interventions and resources to advance student success. The Associate Director will help to build processes to document intervention and outreach, and identify ways to aggregate and report data related to these initiatives in support of student success and retention goals.

  • Developing and maintaining a current understanding of national best practices and emerging initiatives in student success.
  • Researching successful initiatives at other institutions and provide recommendations for greater coordination among departments and workflow improvements within Academic Affairs and partner units.

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate the implementation of the Academic Affairs undergraduate predictive analytics initiative specific to retention and graduation
  2. Partner with colleges, Office of the Registrar, Institutional Research, Access, Engagement, & Success, and Student Affairs on the graduation rate predictive analytics initiative, including the design of interventions, outreach, and training across the colleges.
  3. Work closely with university partners to develop business practices related to access to information, communication of information, and other risk management concerns.
  4. Serve as primary point of contact for workflow, troubleshooting, documentation, and process improvements.
  5. Build and maintain an inventory of student success interventions across RIT colleges and map them to risk factors they seek to address.
  6. Recommend modifications to processes, policies, and systems that impact student success; engage academic affairs leadership and campus stakeholders as appropriate.
  1. Assist in identifying and employing academic recovery strategies for colleges to use with first year and at-risk students to promote success.
  2. Act as the First Year Academic Advocate for students who the colleges have identified as needing more support, guidance and intervention than their academic advisor can offer due to caseload challenges and time constraints.
  3. Coordinate training and outreach, provide direct student contact for students referred, maintain documentation.
  1. Represent Academic Affairs on the Student Behavior Consultation Team and coordinate information from the advising teams/academic departments as appropriate.
  2. Outreach to advisors/colleges and documentation in preparation for both weekly meetings. Attend 2x weekly meetings on behalf of Academic Affairs, follow up and provide additional documentation as needed after each of the meetings.
  1. Review cases of first year students when SBCT is closing for possible Academic Advocacy referrals
  1. Act as a liaison between the University Advising Office and New Student Orientation to help foster communication, build messaging, and strengthen processes to support our incoming first year students.
