Courier Driver

Job Summary:

FedEx is seeking a reliable and experienced Courier Driver to join our team. As a Courier Driver, you will be responsible for delivering and collecting parcels and freight safely and efficiently, while representing the company in a professional manner.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operate smaller and larger cargo vehicles (non-articulated) safely and efficiently, complying with all government and corporate procedures.

• Make an accurate and timely selection and inspection of the assigned packages and the subsequent report of stop and failure counts.

• Seek additional business from current customers, attempt to gain new business, and inform the sales department of significant changes in customer use/competitor's actions.

• Answer customer questions on FedEx features of service and keep customers informed about the company and its services.

• Ensure that packages conform to FedEx features of service, that proper labeling is provided, and that all paperwork is complete, neat, and accurate.

• Determine legality of packages, including special requirements for dangerous goods and international shipments, and separate packages by service type and destination in accordance with established procedures.

• Scan packages according to prescribed procedures and demonstrate proficiency in features of service and equipment.

• Ensure customers have an adequate supply of FedEx materials for shipping.

• Meet aircraft and transport packages as required for sorting operations.

• Load and unload company vehicles and operate mechanized ramp equipment to load and unload packages.

• Clean, wash, and perform minor maintenance to company vehicles as necessary and maintain a neat and clean personal appearance to uphold the company's public image.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Basic English skills preferred

• One (1) year professional driving experience

• Must possess appropriate license for vehicle assigned in accordance with specific country regulations

• Good driving record

• Must be 21 years old or older

Preferred Skills:

• Driver's License Type C, D, or E Vintage

• Ability to lift 70 lbs. (32kgs) and to maneuver packages weighing up to 150 lbs. (68kgs) with appropriate equipment

• Good verbal and writing communication skills, human relations, and team player

• Must be able to successfully complete Reading, Map Reading, Sorting, and math sections of the Basic Skills Test

• Customer-oriented with good organizational skills

• Planning and organizing skills

• Team working skills

• Must be able to work variable shifts
