Senior System Administrator Position

We are seeking an experienced Senior System Administrator to join our team in a client-facing role. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in system administration, with expertise in managing Tableau servers, Linux and Unix environments.

The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up and configuring Tableau servers, managing user permissions, security and access within Tableau environments, troubleshooting performance issues and optimizing dashboards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Setup and configure Tableau servers on various on-prem and cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
  • Experience with server upgrades and parameter changes
  • Proficiency in connecting Tableau to different data sources and extracting data from these sources
  • Manage user permissions, security and access within Tableau environments
  • Troubleshoot Tableau performance issues and optimize dashboards
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Minimum 10 years of IT experience
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience managing Tableau Servers
  • Strong understanding of Tableau architecture, including workbooks, data sources, extract refresh schedules and server maintenance
  • Knowledge of Tableau Server features, including scheduling, content management and server configuration
  • Experience with SQL and relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL) to troubleshoot data-related issues
  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell or batch scripting for automating administrative tasks is a plus
  • Understanding of data governance concepts and experience implementing data security measures in Tableau
  • Knowledge of cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS) is a plus but not required

  • Led L2/L3 production and project support for Linux environments
  • Managed installations, patching, migrations and scripting (Shell & Perl)
  • Troubleshoot hardware/software issues across Linux, HP-UX, Solaris and AIX
  • Optimized system performance and availability
  • Crafted documentation of system configurations and operational procedures
