About the Role

As a Carbon Removal Research Specialist, you will take charge of investigating and analyzing all aspects of Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW) in tropical soils, particularly focusing on liquid-based assessments. Your role will involve designing and overseeing experiments to accurately monitor carbon dioxide removal through ERW techniques. You will ensure the scientific integrity and quality of our onsite experiments, taking full ownership of these initiatives and advancing our scientific agenda. Collaboration with the science team is essential, as you will support various experiments and field monitoring efforts. Building and maintaining relationships with both internal and external stakeholders will be a key part of your responsibilities.
You will report directly to the Head of Science and Research and work alongside a dedicated team of MRV researchers with diverse expertise, fostering a collaborative and trusting environment. Your work will often take place in laboratories, field sites, or greenhouses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee onsite experiments at designated research facilities.
  • Design and execute scientific operations, including experimental setups.
  • Generate, analyze, and manage data related to experiments, with an emphasis on liquid-based analysis.
  • Conduct quality control checks on data collected.
  • Provide research support to enhance the science team strategy.
  • Present and discuss data and research findings with the team and leading researchers worldwide.
  • Assist in covering for team members during absences.
  • Support fieldwork and related tasks.
  • Lead initiatives on novel research and development topics associated with ERW.
Location and Working Hours
  • Flexible working arrangements, but must be based within commuting distance of the research facilities.
  • Standard working hours are 40 hours per week.
  • Attendance at company events and offsite meetings may be required.
Qualifications
  • Experience in ensuring data quality and managing large datasets.
  • In-depth knowledge of the science behind ERW in tropical agriculture.
  • Demonstrated independence, confidence, and a proactive approach.
  • Ability to quickly learn and enhance both professional and personal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to present complex information clearly.
  • A PhD or at least a master's degree in Soil Science, Agronomy, Earth Science, Geochemistry, Biogeochemistry, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with geology and weathering processes in tropical soils.
  • A collaborative team player willing to support colleagues as needed.
  • Fluency in Portuguese and advanced proficiency in English.
  • Located in or willing to relocate near the research facilities.
