About the Role

As a Carbon Removal Research Specialist, you will be tasked with investigating and comprehending all pertinent aspects of Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW) in tropical soils, with a particular emphasis on liquid-based analyses. You will design and oversee experiments to effectively monitor carbon dioxide removal through ERW. Your role will involve managing onsite experiments to ensure scientific integrity and high standards. You will take charge of these experiments and advance our scientific objectives while collaborating with all members of the science team.

You will report directly to the Head of Science and Research and work alongside a dedicated team of MRV researchers, each bringing unique expertise to foster a collaborative environment. Your work will often take place in laboratories, field settings, or at our experimental sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee onsite experiments.
  • Design scientific operations and experiments.
  • Generate, analyze, and manage data with a focus on liquid-based analysis.
  • Conduct quality control checks on data produced.
  • Support the science team’s strategic direction.
  • Present and discuss data and research findings with the team and external researchers.
  • Provide coverage for team members during absences.
  • Assist with fieldwork and infield tasks.
  • Lead innovative research and development topics related to ERW.
Location and Work Hours
  • Flexible working arrangements, with a requirement to be within commuting distance for onsite presence as needed.
  • Standard working hours of 40 hours per week.
  • Participation in company events and offsite meetings may require working outside of regular hours.
Qualifications
  • Experience in ensuring data quality and managing large datasets.
  • In-depth knowledge of ERW in tropical agriculture.
  • Independent, confident, and proactive with a strong work ethic.
  • Quick learner with a desire for continuous improvement.
  • Able to simplify complex problems and communicate them effectively.
  • PhD or at least a master's degree in Soil Science, Agronomy, Earth Science, Geochemistry, Biogeochemistry, or a related field.
  • Understanding of geology and weathering processes in tropical soils.
  • Team-oriented with a willingness to assist colleagues.
  • Fluency in Portuguese and advanced English for international collaboration.
  • Based in or willing to relocate to the specified region.
