Open Source Security Expert

We are seeking a skilled Open Source Security Expert to join our security engineering team. This individual will play a key role in protecting the open source community and Ubuntu users from emerging threats.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and remediate vulnerabilities in open source packages.
  • Monitor vulnerabilities in the Ubuntu ecosystem, utilizing internal tools and methodologies.
  • Collaborate with upstream developers to develop vulnerability patches and enhancements.
  • Audit source code for vulnerabilities and design features to enhance product security.
Requirements
  • Deep understanding of common security vulnerabilities and mitigation techniques.
  • Familiarity with coordinated disclosure practices and industry standards.
  • Experience with open source development tools and methodologies, including Linux.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages (C, Python, Go, Rust, Java, Ruby, PHP, JavaScript/TypeScript).
  • Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills.
  • Effective communication with the team and community members.
  • Interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability.
