We are seeking a talented individual to join our team as a Software Maintenance Engineer. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of exciting projects, from developing and maintaining complex software systems to collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive business growth.

This is a dynamic and challenging position that requires strong technical skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills. As a Software Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for resolving complex customer problems, maintaining close working relationships with internal teams, participating in upstream communities, and developing bug fixes and backport patches.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Resolve complex customer problems related to Ubuntu, Kernel, Ceph, OpenStack, or Kubernetes and other open source software
  • Maintain a close working relationship with our Field, Support and product engineering teams
  • Participate in upstream communities to drive innovation and improve products
  • Develop bug fixes, backport patches, and work with upstream for inclusion
  • Review code produced by other engineers to ensure high-quality standards
  • Demonstrate good judgment in technical methods and techniques
  • Prioritize work and manage your time effectively against those priorities
  • Participate in team discussions to improve processes, tools, and documentation
Requirements:
  • An exceptional academic track record
  • Background in Computer Science, STEM or similar
  • Experience with Linux and open source software
  • Experience with at least one of Python, Go, C or C++ on Linux
  • A drive to learn unfamiliar technology and deep-dive difficult issues

This is a remote role, with regular video check-ins and twice-yearly team sprints in person.
