Customs Clearance Agent

Job Description

As a Customs Clearance Agent, you will be responsible for facilitating the smooth movement of international shipments by ensuring timely customs clearance and compliance with regulations. Your primary objective will be to process import/export and transshipment documents efficiently while maintaining high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.

You will perform a range of activities including but not limited to:

  • Processing and obtaining customs clearance approvals for import/export and transshipments of documents, packages, and merchandise in baggage or air freight
  • Regularizing cargo unavailability processes with the Federal Revenue Service and consenting bodies, including physical inspection (express and formal shipment)
  • Preparing necessary customs forms to enable import and export procedures to occur in a timely, efficient, and effective manner for shipments arriving/departing via aircraft
  • Receiving and checking formal export cargo at the Cargo Terminal (ABV/TECA)
  • Preparation of cargo documentation for customs clearance
  • Issuance of control reports
  • Reception of cleared cargo by FedEx brokers (Puxe)
  • Maintaining station's full compliance with country's customs and tax laws and adherence to company policies, procedures, practices, and rules

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as strong administrative and computer knowledge. He/she must also have the ability to work independently, prioritize tasks effectively, and maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • A high school diploma is required; a Bachelor's degree is preferred
  • Basic level of English for customs
  • Two years of experience in international freight/customs policies, procedures, rules, and laws

The successful candidate will possess excellent problem-solving skills, flexibility, and adaptability to changing situations. They will also have a proven track record of meeting deadlines and delivering results under pressure.
