Job Role Overview

The Cloud Field Engineering Manager will lead a team of engineers in delivering exceptional customer experiences and driving business growth through the implementation of Canonical's open source solutions across public clouds and data centers.

This role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and excellent communication abilities to drive success in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and develop a team of Engineers in Presales and Professional Services
  • Solve complex customer problems by promoting technologies and acting as a trusted advisor
  • Work remotely within your time zone to achieve goals and objectives
  • Coach, mentor, and provide career development feedback to ensure team growth and success
  • Identify and measure key performance indicators for team health and productivity
  • Implement disciplined engineering processes to ensure high-quality results
  • Represent the team and products to stakeholders, partners, and customers
  • Develop and promote best practices in engineering and organizational operations
  • Plan and manage progress on goals and projects to deliver exceptional results

Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of cloud computing concepts and technologies (Kubernetes, Openstack, AWS, GCP, Azure, Ceph)
  • Practical Linux and networking skills with a focus on problem-solving
  • Experience in technical presales with a proven track record of success
  • Dynamic personality with excellent interpersonal skills to build strong relationships
  • Excellent English communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Passion for developing and growing people to drive business success
  • Experience leading, coaching, and mentoring engineers to achieve individual and team goals
  • Organized and focused on delivering timely and high-quality results
  • Strong academic background with a degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Willingness to travel up to 40% for events and meetings to drive business growth

Preferred Skills:

  • Second language (Spanish or French) preferred for effective communication with diverse stakeholders
  • Python programming skills to drive innovation and efficiency
  • Experience with external partnerships to drive business growth and collaboration
