Job Title: Veterinary Group Medical Director West Region

We are seeking an experienced and motivated clinical leader to join our team as a Veterinary Group Medical Director for our West Region.

About the Role:

The Veterinary Group Medical Director will be responsible for overseeing multiple markets within the West Region, including California, Oregon, Washington, Utah, Nevada, Arizona, and Colorado. This role will involve translating organizational objectives into market-specific objectives, promoting clinician engagement and retention, and ensuring strong fiscal performance.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Translate organizational objectives into market-specific objectives that instill a clinician-driven culture and promote clinician engagement and retention.
  2. Travel frequently (50%) to hospitals to evaluate and mentor medical leaders and address concerns.
  3. Partner with regional operational leadership to ensure a balanced representation of medical quality and financial considerations.
  4. Champion consistency in a high-performance and engaged workforce.
  5. Lead and direct the Medical Directors of assigned regions to ensure adherence with organizational objectives in areas involving medical quality, clinician recruitment, retention, and engagement.
  6. Ensure medical leaders are attentive to the engagement level of associates and drive a hospital climate of psychological safety.
  7. Identify medical leadership talent, ensure development of medical leaders, and create a pipeline of talent to support future organizational growth.
  8. Monitor reports on medical occurrences, patient safety, and client experience and partner with stakeholders as needed to ensure swift resolution, improvements, and/or coaching as needed.
  9. Partner with Regional Operational Leaders to ensure appropriate productivity levels and growth plans for Clinicians and hospitals, including optimizing technical team role clarity, skillset, and workflow efficiency.
  10. Actively contribute to the development of practice guidelines and care protocols that lead to the achievement of quality medical and service outlines and cost efficiencies.
  11. Serve as a high-level representative and champion of BluePearl's mission and vision in all interactions within the organization and external veterinary community.
  12. Partner with Regional Medical and Operational Leadership to effectively communicate and cascade key initiatives impacting medical staff, building organizational trust.
  13. Accountable for on-site visit processes for DVM candidates in assigned markets, onboarding, and mentoring of new Clinicians through the mentorship program.
  14. Work collaboratively with support to develop solutions for escalated concerns and influence medical leaders to shape adoption and ensure effectiveness of resolutions.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent degree) required.
  • 3+ years' leadership experience required.
  • Critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, prioritization of work, and problem-solving skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of business needs to recommend appropriate action.
