Optimizing Linux Systems for Silicon Platforms

We are seeking a skilled Linux Kernel Engineer to collaborate with our globally distributed teams and work closely with silicon vendor partners to integrate their platform support into the Ubuntu Linux kernel.
The successful candidate will have a strong aptitude for software engineering at the hardware level and be able to prove their skills in areas such as device drivers, BSP's, and other aspects of hardware-level system engineering. They will also be responsible for diagnosing and resolving issues in the kernel reported by partners, customers, and the community, as well as taking responsibility for the delivery of distinct silicon-optimised variants of the Ubuntu Linux kernel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate regularly with a globally distributed team.
- Work closely with silicon vendor partners to integrate platform support into the Ubuntu Linux kernel.
- Diagnose and resolve kernel issues reported by partners, customers, and the community.
- Deliver distinct silicon-optimised variants of the Ubuntu Linux kernel.
- Improve tooling and automation for the delivery and test of Ubuntu Linux kernels.
- Submit, review, and apply kernel patches, working with internal and external upstream maintainers.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a strong grasp of C programming, device drivers, and operating system kernel fundamentals, along with a solid background in git and experience with Linux kernel patching and debugging.
