About the Role

Porticus is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Programme Manager to lead the development and implementation of strategic programmes in the Latin America region, with a focus on Criminal Justice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership: Provide strategic leadership and guidance to the team, and serve as a thought leader in philanthropy, influencing and pushing the field towards higher impact and systemic change.
  • Exploration: Identify opportunities for strategy-aligned projects and programmes, and manage grants for exploration in the Latin America region, while articulating and socializing concepts within the organization.
  • Program Design and Implementation: Develop strategies that aim for systemic, tangible impact and lasting changes in alignment with challenge strategies, and lead the implementation of these programmes, including grant making, convening programme partners, and applying sophisticated safeguarding and GESI lenses.
  • Storytelling: Represent the programme internally and externally, framing the information for different audiences, and engage in relevant fora and champion the work of partners.
  • Building and Maintaining Relationships: Develop strategic partnerships, build and manage trust-based partnerships, and engage in strategic dialogue on emerging and critical issues with diverse networks.

Requirements:

  • Approx. 8+ years of work experience in Latin America Social Development and/or Philanthropy, particularly on Criminal Justice topics.
  • Preference for significant relevant work and (lived) experience with strong networks and contacts in Latin America.
  • A broad background with deep comprehensive understanding of philanthropy, program design and development, systems, networking, and community change.
  • Experience of and commitment to, working with and through partners and contributing to partnership strategies.
  • Experience with strategy, monitoring, evaluation, and learning (SMEL) and working with other technical advisors and research teams to establish effective monitoring systems.
  • Ability to think and act on a strategic level, accurately assess situations, and find appropriate solutions to generate impact.
  • Strong analytical and project management skills, ability to break down and solve complex problems, and present these to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Commitment to addressing power dynamics in philanthropic partners.
  • Ability to multi-task, set priorities, and be an effective collaborator in a complex internal and external environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with fluency in Portuguese and English required, and fluency in Spanish desired.

Additional Information:

  • The position is full-time, and being based in São Paulo is mandatory.
  • Domestic and International travel is part of the job, with an estimation of 4-6 times annually.
  • This role reports to the Regional Director for Latin America, and is also part of the Criminal Justice and People on the Move global teams, under the technical supervision of Challenge Leads.
  • The compensation will be between 250,000 and 330,000 BRL on a full-time, yearly basis, depending on experience.
