Optimizing Customs Costs Specialist

General Motors Brazil is seeking a highly skilled customs professional to join its Global Tax and Customs department. As a key member of the team, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with customs regulations and optimizing customs costs.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide comprehensive visibility of customs costs for GM Brazil, supporting monthly/annual closing, budget planning, and the preparation of highly accurate financial reports;
- Maximize the benefits of special regimes (RECOF, Drawback, Ex-Tariff, Temporary Admission), ensuring full compliance;
- Act as the primary liaison with customs brokers and internal partners, guiding import/export transactions, master data quality, and broker performance;
- Lead continuous improvement projects that reduce duty expenditures, enhance free trade agreement (FTA) qualification, and automate processes;
- Monitor and coordinate activities related to import and export flows, ensuring compliance with deadlines and legal and regulatory standards;
- Bachelor's degree in International Trade, Accounting, Economics, Logistics, or a related field;
- Strong hands-on experience in customs or trade compliance, including import and export operations;
- Proven track record with Brazilian special regimes (preferably RECOF) and customs financial controls;
- Advanced Excel skills, working knowledge of SAP, Siscomex, and data-visualization tools (e.g., Power BI);
- Solid grounding in HS classification, FTA rules, valuation, and export-control concepts;
- Advanced English language proficiency.
- Experience leading project workstreams;
- Familiarity with global ERP trade-automation solutions and SQL reports or other process-simplification platforms;
