Global Customs Expert Job Description

The role of a Global Customs Expert is to provide complete visibility of customs costs for our operations in Brazil, supporting monthly/annual closing, budget planning, and the preparation of highly accurate financial reports. This involves maximizing the benefits of special regimes, ensuring full compliance, and acting as the primary liaison with customs brokers and internal partners.

  • Provide detailed analysis of customs costs for GM Brazil.
  • Maximize the benefits of special regimes, such as RECOF, Drawback, Ex-Tariff, and Temporary Admission.
  • Act as the primary liaison with customs brokers and internal partners, guiding import/export transactions, master data quality, and broker performance.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects that reduce duty expenditures, enhance free trade agreement (FTA) qualification, and automate processes.
Key Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in International Trade, Accounting, Economics, Logistics or related field.
  • Strong hands-on experience in customs or trade compliance, including import and export operations.
  • Proven track record with Brazilian special regimes (preferably RECOF) and customs financial controls.
  • Advanced Excel skills, working knowledge of SAP, Siscomex, and data-visualization tools (e.g., Power BI).
