Compliance Monitoring and AML Specialist

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with implementing Compliance and AML Monitoring Programmes.
  • Stay up-to-date with regulatory changes, including subsidiary legislation and directives.
  • Liaise with external agencies and counterparties as needed.
  • Submit Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) or equivalent as required.
  • Investigate compliance risks, screen counterparty risks, and ensure good governance.
  • Design and draft policies, procedures, and documentation to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge of AML regulations, fraud trends, and best practices.
  • Monitor daily tasks to ensure compliance with Customer Acceptance Policy and Transaction Monitoring Policy.
  • Review financial transactions and activities to detect and prevent fraud.
  • Report and escalate KPIs and ongoing monitoring to senior management.
  • Assist with remediation projects and sampling cases.
  • Conduct risk assessments of outsourcing arrangements and ICT third parties.

Requirements:

  • Degree or Advanced Diploma in AML and Compliance, Banking and Finance, or relevant field.
  • 3+ years of experience in AML and Compliance, preferably in the Financial/Fintech sector.
  • Strong knowledge of the Maltese regulatory environment.
  • Excellent written and oral skills in English.
  • Excellent IT skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of AML/CFT legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Understanding of ownership structures, trusts, and AML requirements.
  • Great attention to detail and high accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and reporting skills.
  • Ability to adapt and learn in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional integrity.
