Drilling Assistant Job Description

Drilling Assistants play a crucial role in the drilling process, working closely with experienced drillers to ensure safe and efficient operations. The primary responsibility of a Drilling Assistant is to provide support to the driller during drilling operations, including maintaining accurate records and logs, assisting with equipment preparation and maintenance, and participating in pre-tour meetings and emergency drills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform daily checklists, including QHSE checks, Derrick inspections, and choke and mud manifold line-ups.
  • Maintain accurate BHA records and ton-mile calculations.
  • Assist the Driller in maintaining records and logs, and reading various gauges and meters.
  • Participate in pre-tour meetings, emergency drills, and safety training sessions.
  • Assist with equipment preparation, maintenance, and repair.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful military discharge (preferred).
  • Trade school or university graduate with relevant knowledge and training (preferred).
  • Valid medical examination and vaccination certificates.
  • Knowledge of technical calculations required for safe drilling operations.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Well control certificate (per standard defined on the training matrix).
