Procurement Consultant Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Procurement Consultant to join our Operations and Procurement Team. This role primarily focuses on managing the procurement processes for indirect categories.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in procurement, finance, engineering, or accounting, with a strong understanding of procurement processes, policy, and systems.

This position reports directly to the Director of Procurement, and this is a remote work from home opportunity with flexible office space on demand.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, lead, and execute purchasing strategies for indirect spend categories.
  • Identify, evaluate, and qualify potential suppliers.
  • Negotiate contract terms of agreement and pricing.
  • Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.
  • Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms.
  • Partner with stakeholders to ensure clear requirements documentation.
  • Forecast price and market trends to identify changes in the market.
  • Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking.
  • Assess, manage, and mitigate risks.
  • Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers.
  • Determine quantity and timing of deliveries.
  • Engage legal and other internal stakeholders in policy and process updates.
Requirements:
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Work well in both a team environment and independently.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, and mathematical skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management and engagement skills.
  • Organized, structured, and capable of being autonomous.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
  • Have a bachelor's degree in supply chain management, engineering, finance, or accounting.
  • 8+ years of work experience as a Buyer, Category Manager, Purchasing Officer, or relevant role within procurement, finance, or accounting.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of procurement processes, policy, and systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with excellent Excel skills.
  • Excellent negotiation and strong decision-making skills.
  • Ability to gather, analyze, and model data.
  • CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management), PMP, or equivalent certification is a plus.
