Technical Artist Lead

The role of Technical Artist Lead is pivotal in the creation of innovative and engaging game experiences. As a key member of the Fortnite Battle Royal Team, you will be responsible for leading a team of technical artists, providing art direction, and mentoring them to achieve exceptional results.

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Technical Artist Lead who can optimize Art Content to ensure seamless performance on all supported platforms. Your expertise in creating Shader and Blueprint solutions for complex assets will be invaluable in driving our engine and game development forward.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and mentor a team of technical artists, providing guidance and feedback on tasks
  • Optimize Art Content for optimal performance on all supported platforms
  • Collaborate with Art Leads to create Shader and Blueprint solutions for complex assets
  • Work with production to plan, scope, and provide estimates for tasks and create tickets in Shotgrid
  • Collaborate with Gameplay Engineers and Designers to execute new complex, technical gameplay features from start to finish

To be successful in this role, you should possess strong experience with Unreal Engine or other real-time game engine technologies. You should also be proficient in authoring materials and shaders using node-based graph editors or HLSL, as well as Blueprints and other programming or scripting languages.

A proven leader with departmental lead experience, managing technical artists and collaborating closely with all art departments is required. Additionally, proficiency with 3D modeling tools such as 3ds Max, Maya, or similar software, experience in texture creation using tools like Substance Designer and Substance Painter, and hands-on experience with procedural modeling and simulation tools, such as Houdini are desired.
