Chief Accountant Role Overview

The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading our accounting operations, ensuring compliance with local legislation and internal guidelines.

  • Guarantees 100% compliance with all relevant local legislation and internal group accounting guidelines.
  • Ensures accurate, transparent, and complete accounting within the organization and towards HQ.
  • Compiles financial statements that present a true and fair view of the financial position, performance, and cash flows.
  • Integrates accounting operations from a process, systems, and control perspective.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintains the fixed asset register and supervises asset accounting in the fixed asset ledger.
  • Manages accounts payable ledger and periodic payment runs while ensuring segregation of duties.
  • Controls accounts receivable ledger and dunning process.
  • Reconciles all tax accounts.
Period Closing Process
  • Responsible for timely compilation of monthly and annual closings, communicating closing timetable within the organization.
  • Carries out depreciation runs, posts accrual and deferral entries, revaluations, write-offs, and provisions.
  • Prepares annual statutory financial statements.
  • Reviews all monthly reports and financial statements prior to submission to HQ or authorities for corrections.
People Management
  • Builds a team of highly engaged and motivated people.
  • Develops and updates job descriptions for Accounting staff.
  • Ensures sufficient resources and qualifications for each position.
  • Agrees on annual objectives and links variable pay to achievement levels.
  • Holds bi-annual performance reviews giving clear, honest feedback.
Required Skills and Qualifications

• Holds a Certified Management Accountant qualification.

• Relevant accounting experience in a similar organization.

• Vast knowledge of local tax regulations, local GAAP, and IFRS.

• Strong leadership skills.

• IT literate and SAP knowledge.

• Self-motivated, self-directed, and able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

• Fluent English.
