About This Role

This is a senior accounting position that oversees the month-end close process and financial reporting.

  • Perform monthly closing procedures, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Prepare and submit reports to regulatory bodies, such as CADOCs 4010, 4016, 4111, 4050, 9010 and 9011.
  • Develop and maintain local financial statements for bank and holding entities.
  • Manage entity-wide balance sheet reconciliation process.
  • Work on data analysis and general ledger review processes, involving spreadsheet manipulation.
  • Calculate amounts and raise general ledger journals for specific accounts.
  • Provide financial and regulatory reporting to the group as required.
  • Collaborate on projects to automate and streamline month-end process areas, including offshoring.
  • Understand and ensure compliance with internal and external regulations/procedures for assigned business conduct.
  • Produce and review primary/supplementary data for group reporting together with detailed business commentary.
  • Liaise with stakeholders, challenging numbers and obtaining information.
  • Manage teams and produce ad-hoc analysis for senior management.
What We Look For
  • A qualified accountant with experience working in accounting roles for financial institutions.
  • Proficiency in IFRS and Bacen GAAP.
  • Knowledge of HSBC's activities, products, processes and systems.
  • Analytical skills and medium to advanced Excel/database skills.
  • Excellent communication, time management and prioritization skills.
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic and rapid learning capability.
  • English/Portuguese proficiency.
  • An accounting degree.
