About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior PostgreSQL Database Engineer to join our SAP Commerce Cloud DevOps team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing solutions to support, operate, and manage our databases in a multi-tenant application for our customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement efficient database solutions to support our customers.
  • Provide expert-level support and guidance to customers on database-related issues and performance optimization.
  • Collaborate with other teams to define product enhancements and resolve specific issues.
  • Continuously improve existing processes and standards to ensure best practices.
  • Document technical solutions and improve processes to ensure knowledge sharing and reuse.

Requirements

  • Excellent professional experience as a Database Administrator or Database Engineer.
  • Strong expertise in database management and data maintenance using PostgreSQL databases.
  • Proficient in PostgreSQL administration, including backup and recovery procedures and database security.
  • Strong expertise and proficiency with database performance tuning.
  • Experience with scripting languages and automation.
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
  • Strong experience working on cloud platforms, particularly MS Azure or AWS.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers and across a dispersed team.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools for continuous integration and deployment.
  • Able to work independently with a minimum of supervision.
  • Customer-oriented and background in customer consulting would be advantageous.
  • Experience working in high-availability environments (24*7) would be a bonus.
  • Experience with SQL Server/Azure SQL databases will be considered an asset.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
