A Market Access Professional plays a critical role in ensuring that patients with rare diseases have timely access to innovative therapies. This position involves designing and implementing strategies to navigate the complexities of healthcare systems, leveraging relationships with payers, medical professionals, and decision-makers to secure approvals and ensure continuity of treatment.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for leading negotiations with national and provincial payers, managing the patient access lifecycle from prescription to approval, and driving treatment adherence through timely renewal of authorizations. They will also build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, anticipate and resolve objections, and identify systemic barriers to propose strategic solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Design and implement access strategies for rare disease therapies to ensure rapid initiation of treatment.
- Lead negotiations with national and provincial payers to secure approvals and agreements.
- Manage the full patient access lifecycle, from prescription and case submission to approval and continuity of treatment.
- Monitor and drive treatment adherence by ensuring timely renewal of authorizations and product acquisition.
- Build, maintain, and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders, including medical auditors, commercial executives, and decision-makers.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Medical, Commercial, Legal, Regulatory, and Patient Services teams to ensure alignment on access and adherence initiatives.
To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess a University Bachelor's degree and minimum 4-6 years of experience in market access roles and/or commercial roles, with at least 3 years focused on rare or ultra-rare diseases. They must demonstrate strong negotiation, strategic thinking, and engagement skills, as well as the ability to work independently and navigate ambiguity in high-impact environments. Fluency in Spanish and English is essential, along with excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
