Software Engineering Manager Role

The ideal candidate will bring a unique blend of technical expertise and leadership skills to spearhead a team of engineers across the full Linux stack. The role involves optimizing Ubuntu for the latest silicon and collaborating with commercial partners to deliver an exceptional experience.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Lead a distributed team in designing and implementing Ubuntu integration for IoT and server-class hardware platforms and software stacks
  • Engage with commercial partners to deliver a high-quality Ubuntu experience on their platforms
  • Develop team members through coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluation
  • Oversee commercial engagements and ensure timely project milestones are met
  • Maintain strict quality and reliability standards
  • Collaborate with other teams at Canonical to align on product architecture and roadmaps
Key Requirements:
  • Experience working with Linux distributions, debian packaging, and high-performance hardware
  • Direct customer-facing experience resolving technical issues and communicating solutions
  • Demonstrated experience managing or leading a team of software engineers
  • Understanding of agile software development methodologies
  • Effective communication skills in English, both written and oral
  • Bachelor's degree in a technology field (or equivalent)
