We are seeking a highly skilled Land Use Associate to join our team in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. As a key member of our Climate Law and Governance team, you will play a critical role in advancing our agenda in land use.
About the Role
- Job Description: The Land Use Associate will work closely with our team to develop and implement strategies that promote sustainable land use practices in Brazil.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic support to execute and expand our work in land use.
- Identify key stakeholders and build awareness and trust of our organization by building and maintaining good relationships.
- Build and develop specific networks dedicated to strategic agendas.
- Develop and support the team's stakeholder management database.
- Develop engagement activities within our projects through listening, research and feedback including organizing events ranging from one-on-one meetings to larger networking events.
- Manage the Associate Director's engagement with stakeholders, arranging meetings and logistics.
- Keep track of the external policy / advocacy space and update the wider team on significant developments / announcements from across the stakeholder.
- Work with the wider Communications team to hone appropriate messaging and engagement approaches, including stakeholder specific segmentation and tailoring where appropriate.
- Work across the research, program and communications teams at CPI to ensure timely deliverables of relevant work products.
- Support grant writing and project reporting.
Qualifications and Experience
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Exceptional Relationship Building Skills with a range of stakeholders.
- Strong Communication skills with ability to engage with a variety of audiences.
- Self-management and ability to work independently.
- Experience in project planning/management.
- Experience in organizing events.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in public policy, International Relations, law, or demonstrable equivalent experience.
- Experience or knowledge in the areas of climate policy and/or sustainable development.
- Knowledge in governance and Brazil's regulatory framework is desirable.
- Excellent written Portuguese is required. High level of written and spoken English is desirable.
