This role involves providing nursing care to consumers, including medication administration and communication with physicians and CRNPs.
Key Responsibilities- Complete the medication monitoring process for consumers, documenting symptoms, behaviors, medication response, and side effects.
- Observe consumers' behavior in clinic settings and document for psychiatrist review.
- Provide direct nursing care as indicated, administering medications, observing the Seven Rights, and documenting appropriately.
- Coordinate shot clinics, giving injections as prescribed and making arrangements for missed appointments.
- Communicate effectively with physicians and CRNPs regarding consumers' physical and mental conditions.
- Provide medication education to consumers and families, including uses and potential side effects, and monitor for adverse reactions.
- Contact laboratories to request and monitor test results, reporting abnormal findings to physicians.
- Provide emergency care as needed and de-escalate or resolve crisis situations.
- Current LPN license to practice in Alabama required.
- Experience in mental health settings preferred, with basic knowledge of medical terminology and psychiatric care.
- Familiarity with psycho-pharmacy and psychotropic medications in adult populations preferred.
- Valid Alabama driver's license and good driving record required.
- Ability to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English essential.
