Justice Support Specialist

This is a challenging yet rewarding role where you will serve individuals throughout Northampton County, with an office base in Bethlehem, PA.

The ideal candidate will be a catalyst for change—guiding individuals through complex legal and mental health systems with compassion, clarity, and purpose. They will work directly with justice-involved clients to support their reentry, stability, and growth, connecting them to vital resources and advocating for their success.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Engage with adults experiencing severe mental illness using person-centered approaches, nonjudgmental support, and motivational interviewing to assess re-entry needs and support goal development and maintenance.
  • Coordinate care and deliver a warm hand-off to providers that the individual is being referred to ensure re-entry success and continuity of care while in the community.
  • Provide de-escalation as needed to support successful engagement and follow-up care.
  • Provide direct or indirect skill development. Provide information about mental illness, wellness, and recovery.
  • Assist persons being served and team members in increasing awareness of community resources.
  • Act as a point person for relational partnership and collaboration with all service providers involved.
  • Provide thorough documentation of work within electronic health records.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in social work or a related field required.
  • Experience working with adults with serious mental illness and the criminal justice system preferred.
  • Ability to communicate well.
  • Ability to develop positive, creative and programmatic goals.
  • Ability to direct and prioritize own work and be flexible.
  • Knowledge of criminal justice system. Knowledge of serious mental illness.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in, or ability to learn and use, workplace applications, platforms and technologies.
