Job Overview

We are seeking a qualified professional to lead an assessment of the impacts of climate and environmental changes on the Brazilian productive structure.

The selected candidate will be responsible for providing assessments of the impacts of climate and environmental changes, dimensioning mitigation efforts, and analyzing relationships between economic sectors and their respective contributions to greenhouse gas emissions by state.

The work will involve using the Input-Output Matrix at national and subnational levels, as well as structural decomposition analysis (SDA), to evaluate the relationships between economic sectors and their respective contributions to greenhouse gas emissions by state.

The consultancy must carry out several activities, including:

  • Analysis of compatible databases between regional IPMs;
  • Analysis of emissions vectors by state and sector;
  • Methodological update of the estimation of the Brazilian Inter-regional Input-Output Matrix using administrative records;
  • Definition of a structural decomposition methodology for the Brazilian Inter-regional Input-Output Matrix;
  • Presentation of scientific articles containing objectives, literature review, methodology employed, results, and discussion.

The ideal candidate should have an advanced university degree in Economics or a related field, with at least 8 years of experience in input-output analysis, estimating national and regional input-output matrices, deflating input-output matrices, processing national accounts information bases, collecting, manipulating, and tabulating national accounts data, and participation in economic studies on the Brazilian economy, structural decomposition, and input-output analysis.

The candidate should be fluent in Portuguese and English and have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Key Deliverables:

  • Estimation of the deflated data series of the Brazilian input-output matrices between 2000 and 2021, based on the year 2018;
  • Analysis of the consistency of regional MIP estimated from electronic invoice data for 2018;
  • Structural indicators database - chaining indicators;
  • Technical note on the stability of input-output ratios and the effect of relative prices;
  • Analysis of emissions databases in Brazil, highlighting the main differences between them, as well as the emissions vector;
  • Analysis of the regional input-output matrices existing in Brazil, highlighting their main characteristics;
