
Utility Coordinator Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Utility Coordinator II to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for reviewing proposed freight rail construction design plans against all available utility infrastructure documentation to determine locations of potential conflicts with applicable standards and project construction.
You will also review railroad license agreements, easements, deed records, or other documents to determine occupancy rights and applicability of compensable interests. Additionally, you will perform records research at City / County offices to determine land ownership and property boundaries, as necessary.
The successful candidate will support Project Managers and participate in client and stakeholder visits, site visits, field assessments, and construction observation as needed. You will assist with the identification, communication, and resolution of utility conflicts on Transportation/Roadway projects.
In this role, you will also assist with the management and coordination of Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) investigations, schedule, and submittals. You will work independently, and with project team, coordinating with utility companies and design engineers to meet client's needs and objectives.
Your responsibilities will include assisting with and preparing client deliverables, utility exhibits, project guides, project reviews, project invoices, expense reports and project monitoring/field verification, as needed.
You will apply company/client quality assurance guidelines and procedures for project documents, time and budget management. Furthermore, you will assist in the review and perform QA/QC of utility company agreements, plans, specifications, cost estimates and invoices submitted by utility companies to assure compliance with applicable rules, regulations, and requirements of the client.
Frequent communication, both verbal and written, between project managers, clients, and utility owners is required to ensure project schedules are met and are compliant with federal, state and local laws, in addition to any other regulations required by the client.
You will also conduct meetings, presentations, and minutes for both in person and virtual meetings. The position requires strong communication, both verbal and written, organization skills, attention to detail, scheduling and problem-solving skills.
Required Skills and Qualifications- Bachelor's degree
- Ability to read and understand civil transportation engineering design plans
- Ability to read and understand utility installation and adjustment plans
- Strong communication, both verbal and written, organization skills, attention to detail, scheduling and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read and understand contractual documents, including but not limited to; deeds, engineering plans, sub-contractor proposals, reimbursement agreements, occupancy and use agreements, etc.
- Basic understanding of real estate principles and the ability to read and understand easements, deeds, legal descriptions and general documents associated with property rights
- Proficiency in Bluebeam Revu, ArcGIS, KMZs, AutoCAD, or MicroStation
- Familiarity of Transportation/Roadway/Utility industry
- Local candidates preferred
- Technical degree or a combination of education and relevant experience
- A minimum of 3 years of related experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel and Outlook
