Job Description:

The Utility Coordinator II is a key position that plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth execution of transportation projects. The primary responsibility of this role is to review proposed freight rail construction design plans against available utility infrastructure documentation to identify potential conflicts with applicable standards and project construction.

This involves meticulous analysis of documents such as railroad license agreements, easements, deed records, or other relevant papers to determine occupancy rights and the applicability of compensable interests. Additionally, the Utility Coordinator II will assist in the identification, communication, and resolution of utility conflicts on Transportation/Roadway projects.

One of the critical skills required for this role is strong communication, both verbal and written. The ideal candidate should possess excellent organization skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency in Bluebeam Revu, ArcGIS, KMZs, AutoCAD, or MicroStation is also essential.

As a member of the project team, the Utility Coordinator II will work closely with clients, stakeholders, and utility companies to ensure that project schedules are met and compliant with federal, state, and local laws. This requires frequent communication, both verbal and written, between project managers, clients, and utility owners.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review proposed freight rail construction design plans against available utility infrastructure documentation to determine potential conflicts with applicable standards and project construction.
  • Assist in the identification, communication, and resolution of utility conflicts on Transportation/Roadway projects.
  • Perform records research at City/County offices to determine land ownership and property boundaries, as necessary.
  • Support Project Managers and participate in client and stakeholder visits, site visits, field assessments, and construction observation as needed.
