Job Title

Associate Dean for Academic Affairs:

  • A leadership role overseeing the academic affairs of a school, focusing on faculty development and evaluation, curriculum planning, course scheduling, and student academic and support services.
  • Representing the school in university committees and campus-wide initiatives related to faculty development, research, and assessment.
  • Collaborating with senior administrators to execute academic policies and procedures as well as strategic initiatives in administration and academic affairs.
Responsibilities
  • Provide oversight and leadership to ensure the effectiveness of academic programs, emphasizing quality and student success.
  • Lead and direct offices responsible for finance and operations, ensuring efficient resource allocation and management.
  • Supervise subordinate staff, making recommendations on personnel matters, disciplinary actions, and performance evaluations.
  • Plan, assign, and evaluate work for effective operation and results of the unit.
Accountabilities
  • Internal contacts include executives, administrators, students, and staff of the department and the university at large.
  • External contacts include consultants, representatives from other colleges and universities, visitors, and the general public.
Core Competencies
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of planning, budgeting, financial planning, and analysis principles.
  • Proven ability to facilitate consensus in committee structures with senior administration and peers both internally and externally.
  • Successful experience in managing capital projects, including coordination of construction activities with University personnel.
Minimum Requirements
  • Leadership ability with a proven record of success in communicating and working with all levels of an organization.
  • Master's degree and 12-15 years of relevant experience or equivalent qualifications may be substituted in lieu of educational requirements.
