Technical Support to the Ministry of Social Development, Family and Fight Against Hunger

This role requires technical support for the Ministry of Social Development, Family and Fight Against Hunger (MDS) in developing national guidance on refugees and migrants shelter management within the Unified Social Assistance System (SUAS) framework.

The successful candidate will provide expert advice on aligning the final product with the SUAS framework and national and international best practices. They will also facilitate the operational integration of guidelines for shelter management specialized in refugees and migrants into the SUAS, ensuring that the guidance is practical, accessible, and applicable in different local contexts.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Systematizing lessons learned and institutional procedures to strengthen reception and protection strategies for refugees, migrants, and stateless persons across Brazil.
  • Drafting the content of the guidance in Portuguese, drawing on Brazil's legal and policy frameworks.
  • Collaborating with MDS and IOM in the development of national guidance on provision of specialized shelter to refugees and migrants within the SUAS framework.

Skills and qualifications:

  • Expertise in refugee and migrant shelter management.
  • Knowledge of the Unified Social Assistance System (SUAS) framework.
  • Experience in systematizing lessons learned and institutional procedures.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
