Lead Software Engineering Manager

Job Title: Lead Software Engineering Manager

This is a unique opportunity to drive the Ubuntu gaming experience forward and make it first-class.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading project timelines, balancing feature improvements with deadlines, collaborating with stakeholders to align work with other teams and company objectives, conducting code reviews, and engaging actively with the open source and gaming community to gather feedback and collaborate on improvements.

We are looking for an experienced software engineering manager with exceptional project management skills, technical leadership abilities, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Linux graphics stack, user-space components, and low-level kernel drivers. Familiarity with upstream projects and partners is also essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead team in optimizing and expanding the Ubuntu gaming experience
  • Manage project timelines and balance feature improvements with deadlines
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to align work with other teams and company objectives
  • Conduct code reviews and focus on quality, performance, and modern design principles
  • Work closely with other teams to ensure a cohesive and comprehensive Ubuntu experience
  • Drive performance improvements across a wide range of hardware
  • Engage actively with the open source and gaming community to gather feedback and collaborate on improvements

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Candidates should have an undergraduate degree in a technical subject or a compelling narrative about their alternative chosen path. Proven ability to collaborate effectively with upstream projects and partners, familiarity and experience with the Linux graphics stack, and exceptional software project management skills are essential.
