Job Description:

The Standardized Patient Instructor plays a pivotal role in facilitating experiential learning for healthcare professionals, focusing on history-taking, physical examination, communication, and empathy. This position requires rigorous initial training and regular refresher courses prior to each teaching session.

During sessions, instructors engage learners by providing step-by-step instructions on techniques while utilizing their bodies as teaching tools. All SP work is supervised by experienced professionals, ensuring exceptional quality and expertise.

Key responsibilities include interpreting the program curriculum, serving as a role model, maintaining current simulation and clinical skills knowledge, and attending all required training sessions. Instructors must also be comfortable with repeated physical examination maneuvers and willing to receive feedback from supervisors.

Additional duties may include orienting students to learning objectives, presenting curriculum, and providing verbal feedback to learners. A positive and proactive mindset is essential for success in this role.

The ideal candidate will possess strong teaching and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations. Proficiency in operating computers and software applications is also necessary.

This position requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent, computer literacy, and the ability to work independently. Experience as an SP or in an academic, healthcare, or simulation learning environment is preferred.
