As a Marine Interdiction Agent, you will play a critical role in protecting our nation's borders and ensuring the safety of its citizens. This career ladder position has a grade level progression of GS-11, GS-12, and GS-13, offering opportunities for advancement and professional growth.
">Job Responsibilities- Perform law enforcement operations at sea to detect, prevent, interdict, and apprehend terrorists, terrorist weapons, and other contraband entering or attacking the United States.
- Monitor suspicious behavior patterns and activities of individuals, vehicles, or vessels believed to be involved in illicit activities.
- Analyze radar data to determine optimal intercept points while tracking vessels and individuals to successful interdictions.
- Conduct searches of persons, vessels, baggage, and cargo for contraband or weapons incidental to detention or arrest.
This position requires a strong understanding of maritime law enforcement operations, including search and seizure procedures, arrest authority, and constitutional law. You will work closely with government attorneys to prepare cases and testify in court proceedings.
Qualifications- A valid Merchant Mariner Credential is required.
- One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:
- Applying advanced skills in controlling/commanding law enforcement scenes, including conducting searches, making arrests, processing arrests, and seizing evidence and property.
- Conducting investigative inquiries using various techniques, examining files and records, physical and documentary evidence to identify logical conclusions.
- Utilizing cameras and other electronic surveillance equipment to gather evidence, collect, evaluate, and preserve that evidence.
- Writing comprehensive arrest, criminal, and incident reports.
- Assisting government attorneys in preparing cases and testifying in court proceedings.
- Applying arrest authorities and constitutional law in various alleged criminal situations.
- OR GS-11 Education Substitution: A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, three full years of graduate education, or LL.M.
- OR Combining Experience and Education: A combination of completed post-bachelor education and experience.
