Maintenance Superintendent

About the Role

The Maintenance Superintendent will demonstrate exceptional leadership, management, and safety skills. They will ensure effective and efficient maintenance and condition monitoring activities are carried out.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implementation of Management System:
    • Provide concise reports in accordance with Management System requirements, with due regard for document control.
    • Ensure timely and effective closeout of survey and relevant audit actions.
    • Apply change management procedures appropriately.
    • Contribute effectively to incident investigation, review, and reporting.
  • Personnel:
    • Manage vessel systems operation at department level through supervisors and subordinate staff.
    • Promote training and competency assurance throughout the Maintenance Department, aligning with Company goals.
    • Ensure probationary and annual appraisals are completed fairly and consistently in a timely manner.
    • Encourage and support Supervisors to achieve training and competency targets, allocating appropriate time for this area of work.
    • Manage welfare and disciplinary issues at departmental level, referencing OIM and Fleet HR as needed.
  • Works:
    • Operate unit systems efficiently, prioritizing Health and Safety.
    • Ensure full compliance with PTW system, Risk assessment, and verification.
    • Comply with Class, Flag, and Port State requirements, preserving the vessel's operational status.
    • Effectively supervise project, subcontract, and vendor personnel.
    • Pursue efficiency improvement and company goals.
    • Responsible for condition monitoring, maintenance, preservation, and repair of vessel and process systems.
    • Manage parts control, inventories storage record keeping, shipping, and receiving using CMMS.
  • Contract:
    • Collaborate with department heads to maximize efficiency and uptime.
    • Maintain effective cost control and promote cost awareness in others.
    • Stay informed about key issues related to client and sub-contractor relationships.
  • Emergency Response:
    • Demonstrate knowledge and awareness of emergency response techniques through exercises and drills.
    • Show understanding of potential impact of incidents and scenarios on vessel safety and security.
    • Contribute to preparation of useful exercises and post-exercise/incident review and investigation.

Requirements:

  • Hold a Chief Engineer Officer certificate with endorsement for ships powered by main propulsion machinery of 3,000 kW or more.
  • Have a minimum of 2 years' experience as Maintenance Superintendent or equivalent role.
  • possess knowledge and experience of Safety Management in hydrocarbon environments.
