About the RoleThe IS team is responsible for maintaining all production services that serve over 60 million Ubuntu users. As a Senior SRE & Gitops Engineer, you will lead automation initiatives, design and develop services aligned with the IS architecture vision, advance infrastructure as code practices, and automate software operations across clouds.
Key Responsibilities- Lead technical projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams to align solutions with the IS architecture vision.
- Design and develop scalable services that can be offered as products by the IS team.
- Drive process improvements through automation, increasing efficiency and reducing complexity.
- Maintain operational responsibility for core services, networks, and infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Enhance troubleshooting, capacity planning, and performance monitoring using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and Elasticsearch.
To succeed in this challenging role, you must possess:
- Experience with hosting architecture driven by infrastructure as code across private and public clouds.
- A product mindset focused on developing products rather than just solutions.
- Proficiency in Python, especially with large projects.
- Experience with Kubernetes or similar container orchestration systems.
- Proven ability to manage and deploy cloud infrastructure with code.
- Practical knowledge of Linux networking, routing, and firewalls.
- Familiarity with Linux storage solutions like Ceph and databases.
- Hands-on experience administering enterprise Linux servers.
- Deep understanding of cloud computing concepts and technologies.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or related field.
- Effective communication skills in English via multiple channels.
- Strong troubleshooting skills from kernel to web, with a collaborative attitude.
- Willingsness to learn quickly and adapt to fast-changing environments.
