Senior Technical Art Lead

We are currently in search of a Senior Technical Art Lead to guide our team through exciting new projects. The ideal candidate will possess a diverse skill set and a passion for applying their expertise across multiple artistic styles. Your extensive background in game development and technical art workflows will enable you to work effectively alongside engineers, VFX artists, animators, and 3D artists to craft immersive experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of technical artists, providing clear tasks, objectives, and regular constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate with Art Leads to realize the artistic vision while adhering to project specifications.
  • Work closely with Art and Engineering teams throughout development to ensure all assets are functional and optimized for platform constraints.
  • Research and develop innovative project pipelines and toolsets.
  • Coordinate with producers to delegate tasks, estimate timelines, and organize meetings to maintain manageable workloads and timely deliverables.
  • Engage with clients to uphold their artistic vision, ensuring that all outgoing work meets technical standards.
  • Identify opportunities for technical innovation, streamline processes, and advocate for best practices within the team.
  • Participate in problem-solving efforts, addressing both technical and aesthetic challenges.
  • Contribute to project content creation as needed.
  • Stay informed about industry standards and explore new tools and technologies to enhance content production.
  • Support the growth of the Technical Art team through training, team-building activities, and recruitment efforts.
  • Proactively communicate team concerns to ensure representation of your discipline within the larger team.

Qualifications:

  • A seasoned technical artist with over 6 years of experience in the gaming industry, including at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • In-depth knowledge of major 3D software packages (such as 3DS Max or Maya, Photoshop, and Substance).
  • Extensive experience with Unreal and Unity game engines.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages like Python and C#.
  • Experience in performance and memory profiling within game engines.
  • Strong understanding of current and next-gen art techniques and fundamental art principles.
  • Experience with asset management systems (e.g., Perforce, VSS, Alienbrain).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of video game development processes and production pipelines across various genres and platforms.
  • A passion for mentoring and developing the artistic and technical skills of others, with a commitment to managing and expanding a world-class technical art team.
  • A strong dedication to collaborative creativity within a team and across departments.
  • Hands-on experience in developing new Art tools is advantageous.
  • Experience with procedural content creation software like Houdini and Substance Suite is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
  • Professional proficiency in English.
