Job Opportunity:

The Research Department generates new ideas to enrich the knowledge base supporting policy agendas. We are seeking a Macroeconomist Consultant to support our activities, including research and policy work.

This is an international consultant role based at our Headquarters in Washington, D.C. We offer visa and relocation support.

The ideal candidate will have a PhD degree in economics or related field and a minimum of 5 years of post-doctorate experience.

The successful candidate will be able to manage projects with minimal supervision in a cross-functional environment that spans a talented team of economists and dissemination experts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support RES economists in preparing the Annual Macroeconomic Report and activities related to its dissemination.
  • Assist in organizing RES meetings with different stakeholders, such as biannual chief economists' meetings.
  • Prepare clear briefing materials on key macroeconomic policy issues addressed by RES economists.
  • Participate in meetings and conversations about the macroeconomic situation in LAC.
  • Provide scientific support to the chief economist and other managers with regards to IDB publications, speeches, and presentations.

  • Citizenship: You must be a citizen of one of our member countries.
  • Consanguinity: You have no family members working at the IDB.
