Job Overview:
The Supply Chain Specialist plays a pivotal role within the Global Supply Chain Organization, responsible for developing weekly performance reports to demonstrate process efficiency and deliverables. This position will lead purchasing of finished goods sourced from external facilities.
The primary destinations include warehouses in Baltimore, Houston, and Chicago. The main goal for this role is to ensure accurate purchasing orders, guarantee timely delivery of customer order commitments, and communicate delayed orders promptly.
This position requires discipline to execute activities and strategic contributions, including a strong understanding of Material Requirement Planning and Import Management. The ability to identify opportunities to improve inventory management is also essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Run reports on a weekly or daily basis (when applicable)
- Execute the purchasing of sourced finished goods, converting order proposals into POs, considering available information in the system (current inventory, open sales orders, forecast, open Interco PO, Lead Time of Sourced Finished Goods)
- Evaluate order recommendations to confirm their sense, making analyses, questioning when unsure, and contacting immediate managers or relevant coworkers for clarification and confirmation
- Adjust/modify POs when required (forecast change, late shipments, etc.)
- Proactively follow up with sourcing contacts to check if all is okay with shipments
- Track purchase orders with support from exporting entities and Import Broker
- Flag issues and have confidence to question – system, production, etc. – when concerns need to be addressed
- Monitor shipments throughout arrival at destination by utilizing P44 subscription
- Work with stakeholders to be aware of Interco PO real arrival in Destination Ports, status of brokerage customs process, estimated arrival at Warehouses, and real arrival at Primary Destinations
- Coordinate with regional forwarding team to expedite shipments, including direct shipments to customers and air freighting of material as needed
- Communicate with freight forwarder & drayage provider to expedite release and drayage of containers upon arrival to port
- Notify Freight Forward & Drayage about urgent customer needs, resulting in marked Hot containers and expedited unloading and drayage to USA Warehouses
