Job Overview:

The Waste Management Specialist will be responsible for coordinating the collection, processing, and loading of solid waste and recyclables for shipment to a designated port.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Collect, process, and load solid waste and recyclables for shipment in accordance with environmental health and safety regulations.
  • Operate heavy equipment such as front-end loaders, skid steers, and articulating forklifts, as well as industrial balers and tub grinders.
  • Perform truck weigh station duties during vessel operations and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Regularly use cargo straps, banding, pallet jacks, and power tools to facilitate efficient material handling.
  • Support the Spill Team by providing on-call services and participating in night shift responsibilities as needed.
  • Maintain flexibility and a positive attitude in a dynamic work environment that requires adaptability and teamwork.
  • Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures and tasking responsibilities within the Waste department.
  • Comply with Environmental Health & Safety, Quality Assurance, and other regulatory requirements to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean and organized workspace and adhering to all safety protocols.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working in a remote job site or similar environment.
  • Equipment operating experience, including familiarity with heavy machinery and power tools.
  • Able to stand for up to 12 hours daily and lift maximum weights allowed by safety regulations.
  • Must pass a physical qualification assessment prior to deployment.
  • Able to deploy to Antarctica for the duration of the contract.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous USAP Waste Management experience.
  • Previous deployment to Antarctica.

Education and Certifications: High school education or equivalent required. Valid driver's license and passport valid for six months after the end of the contract necessary.

Other Requirements: US citizenship or permanent residency required.
