Job Summary

As a Central Control Room Operator at Messer Americas, you will play a critical role in the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our air separation plant fleet from our central control room. You will be responsible for operating approximately 6 plants while on shift, including steady state operation and optimization, as well as full plant restart events.

This is a dynamic environment where you will work collaboratively with your team to solve real-world problems and maintain our supply of gases for life to our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain safe, reliable, and efficient plant operation via computer interface.
  • Respond to and troubleshoot process upsets and plant problems.
  • Manage alarms and respond accordingly.
  • Perform plant shutdowns and startups.
  • Monitor Key Performance Indicators and investigate deficiencies.
  • Communicate plant status and performance to the business.
  • Provide ad-hoc support including alarm response and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain network security and integrity.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to work rotating shifts.
  • Excellent team player.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize.
  • Analytical thinking ability to make quick decisions based on plant operational data.
  • Ability to maintain alertness and react in a high stress environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Candidates must meet one of the following requirements:
    • Minimum of 2 years plant experience in a process plant related operations role.
    • Military experience (e.g. Navy Nukes, Air Force Fuels).
    • Recent college graduates with an engineering or physical science degree.
