Make Your Mark in Underwriting

AIG's underwriting teams help find insurance solutions in areas including Financial Lines, Property, Casualty, Specialty Lines, Cyber, Multinational Clients, and High Net Worth individuals. We're transforming our operating model, reshaping role responsibilities, and career pathways to unlock each colleague's full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Support Trade Credit and Trade Finance operations in Brazil.
  2. Deliver financial and budgetary goals for the country.
  3. Produce, underwrite, and manage a self-established portfolio in line with underwriting strategy and adhering to underwriting standards.
  4. Execute strategic plans as agreed with senior leadership.
  5. Establish a book of Trade Credit accounts and implement a commercial action plan across the business area, identifying growth opportunities in focus markets and executing jointly with brokers and distribution teams.
  6. Market credit insurance through a focused distribution system.
  7. Consistently achieve growth and return objectives across the area of responsibility – focus on Mexico.
  8. Work together with all functions of the Trade Credit organization, including Credit Officers.
  9. Integrate and collaborate with other Lines of Business and functions at a country level.
  10. Monitor market movements and refine adaptation of local business plans.
  11. Supervise, train, and develop the underwriting team and related departments.
  12. Provide technical advice to the underwriter community, credit analysts, brokers, insureds, and claims regarding scope of coverage, interpretation of wordings, and applications.
  13. Some travel required.
Requirements
  1. Studies in economics, actuarial, accounting, and/or business administration.
  2. High-level commercial/sales expertise and broker relationship management, willing to provide sales support and business trips (focus on Mexico).
  3. Proven experience in financial and balance sheet analysis.
  4. Ability to communicate and negotiate at C-level, ability to express clearly and precisely.
  5. Willingness to make decisions, ability to work in a team, quick perception, and good self-organization.
  6. Proven portfolio analysis skills with broad knowledge of trade sectors.
  7. Good understanding of Trade Credit, wordings, processes, and documentation.
  8. Proven business acumen and successful commercial career experiences.
  9. Ability to work in a matrix organization.
  10. Analytical and project management skills.
  11. Personal initiative, commitment, accountability, resilience, flexibility.
  12. Team player and motivated personality.
  13. Good knowledge of English, knowledge of other foreign languages would be an advantage.
