Geotechnical Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in Rio de Janeiro.

This role involves assessing and analyzing the ground on which buildings and other structures will be erected.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Examine sites of proposed buildings or other structures to check soil stability and rock formations
  • Confirm safety and durability of surfaces for building projects, design structural foundations, and conduct environmental testing
  • Conduct tests on items in a laboratory, study properties, note any contaminations or other issues, and produce reports about findings for project managers
  • Study safety quality standards for different projects and ensure adherence to these standards
  • Inspect foundations, observing drilling activities, and reviewing work plans to ensure adherence to standards
  • Presentation of possible project risks, explanation of seismic activities, making recommendations for foundations and excavation activities, and summarizing progress of individual projects
  • Performance of geostructural analysis and design of waterfront structures, including bulkheads, deep foundations, retaining walls, and flood control structures
  • Interpretation of field test data and estimation of soil engineering properties for design
  • Assignment of lab tests and interpretation of results
  • Estimation of deep foundation lateral and axial capacities
  • Design of bulkheads, retaining walls, and floodwalls
  • Development of plans and specifications
  • Resolution of design problems by performing field investigation or inspections, detailed design work, and detailed checking of design computations done by others, or general coordination of specific design aspects into a project
  • Calculation of construction quantity estimates
  • Collaboration with architects, engineers, scientists, project managers, etc. on multi-discipline projects
