Job Title

The role of the Building Engineer is to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair or arrange for repairs of all building operating systems on the site. This may involve working on a single building as the sole engineer under limited property size and scope.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. System Maintenance: Responsible for all preventative maintenance, necessary maintenance and repairs to the buildings mechanical, electrical, HVAC and plumbing systems.
  2. Preventative Maintenance: Conduct periodic general preventative maintenance on the mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems, including normal lubrication, adjustment, cleaning, replacement of consumable parts, and periodic testing of the equipment.
  3. Tenant Support: Be responsive to tenant requests in the areas of safety, plumbing, mechanical, electrical and environmental needs through both personal contact and work order systems.
  4. Maintenance Records: Prepare and maintain maintenance logs and records, familiar with preventative maintenance and work order software systems.
  5. Contractor Coordination: Coordinate contractor, tenant and management approvals for work orders that require the use of an outside contractor, maintaining log of work order details.
  6. Operational Safety: Perform all assigned work to ensure the safety of the building's tenants and the continuous operation of the site.
  7. Written Procedures: Be familiar with and conform to all written operating procedures associated with the site.
  8. Snow and Ice Removal: Assist in snow and ice clearing operations, including coordination of plowing and salting activities by outside vendors.
  9. File Organization: Maintain organized building files.
